The Heat: Reviewing US President Trump's State of the Union

U.S. President Donald Trump delivers his State of the Union address to a joint session of the U.S. Congress

From the Coast Guard, the fire departments, the shop floor and many other quarters they came, providing structural support for a flabby speech that was one of the least adventurous and forward-looking efforts of its kind. This statement was Trump's way of fortifying his stance on immigration and a need to build a wall to keep undocumented immigrants out of the country, or to justify their deportation.

At a small gathering of pundits at the White House on Monday, the president said he picked the 1.8 million figure believing Democrats would reject it, and that he would return to the original 700,000 if they did. He added of Trump sending his love to those states ravaged by natural disasters, "That is going to be a comforting message to the people of Puerto Rico when they have electricity to turn on their TVs". "I want our poor to have their chance to rise".

Immigration groups say that will reduce overall immigration by as much as half, and Democrats say the chain migration cutback will hurt families. And he broke no new ground on immigration; Trump instead irritated Democrats by taking a thinly veiled swing at the so-called "Dreamers", young people brought illegally to the United States as children. "If you work hard, if you believe in yourself, if you believe in America, then you can dream anything, you can be anything, and together, we can achieve anything".

Noah also noticed that Trump seemed to be in a good mood.

Romania has experienced political turmoil and street protests over the past year, as the government moves to reverse some anti-corruption reforms adopted under pressure from the European Union, which the country joined in 2007.

"In our drive to make Washington accountable, we have eliminated more regulations in our first year than any administration in history.Since the election, we have created 2.4 million new jobs, including 200,000 new jobs in manufacturing alone". The ones we have are government subsidized and paralleled by railroads that could easily replace them if subsidies ended tomorrow (as they should). "Accountability, transparency-for the sake of the reputation of our institutions".

Meanwhile on "The Daily Show", Noah commented on some of the speech's attendees.

Trump warned that Pyongyang's 'reckless' nuclear drive could 'very soon' threaten the US homeland, while also eyeing the geopolitical challenge posed by adversaries China and Russia.

Apple wrote the $75 billion includes expected "repatriation tax payments of approximately $38 billion".

The well-coached, well-rehearsed State of the Union speech offered no surprises.

Unlike other polls that ask questions in live telephone interviews, it relies on push-button phone calls - meaning voters who like Trump's performance in office aren't required to say so out loud to another person. In between, he spent his time attending to self-made crises and tweeting acrimoniously. As Mr. Trump put it winningly: "I want our youth to grow up to achieve great things". It cost Mr. "read my lips" the 1992 election. Tuesday's speech would be a turning point in making South Texas greater than it ever was.
